3chan was a dead altchan who was created as a competitor to 4chan and later 8chan.

History

3chan is an old altchan created on 2014, with the owner going by Uii or Yushe. According to the Site's FAQ, it was created as an alternative due to 4chan having shitty jannies and an influx of newfags who weren't apt for imageboard culture. The site was created using a software called Saguaro and then moved to a modified version of Futallaby called internally as Mistuba. 3chan also positions itself as a free speech bastion like many other altchans and rebaranded to oppose Hiro's administration of 4chan and Jim Watkins' ownership of 8chan. The site had an emote feature and a twitter account. 3chan has been defunct since mid-2025. Another imageboard also called 3chan was created in 2018, but it has no correlation to this one.
